The Iditarod is one of the most heroic races on Earth. In between Anchorage and Nome lies nearly 1,100 miles of ruthless nature in the vast land of Alaska. When Grizzlies hibernate, Northern Lights decorate the sky and days become nights, mushers try to cover this distance as fast as they can. Sixteen brave dogs and their master are put up to the test.

MitchMost teams reach Nome in 9 to 14 days. Mushers are pushed to their physical and mental limits: sleep deprivation, snowstorms, 40 below weather,…. Daylight is scarce and with frozen limbs they have to find their way through the darkness. The moon enlightens Alaska’s heavenly beauty to the sound of howling wolves. Dogteams leave civilization and indulge themselves in 1,049 of Mother Nature’s cruelest miles.

The Iditarod-mania conquers the World and has also reached Belgium. What started as a dream, becomes reality for Dries and Sam. Passion, hard work and an inexhaustable motivation helps them to pursue their dream: to appear at the start of this race of all races as the first Belgians. Sam and Dries are happy to share their adventure with you!
